Middlesbrough vs Manchester united: line up and preview

           Jose Mourinho has made seven changes to his starting line-up to face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium (kick off 12:00 GMT) as Manchester United return to Premier League action.

               The Reds have not played a top-flight match since the draw over Bournemouth over two weeks ago due to competing in the Emirates FA Cup and Europa League on Thursday.David De Gea returns to the starting XI in place of Sergio Romero and it seems like Mourinho has opted to stick to his wing-back formation for today's trip to the North East. 

         It looks as if Phil Jones, who replaces Marcos Rojo, will play in a three-man central defence alongside Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly.In United’s 1-0 win over FC Rostov on Thursday,Paul Pogba limped off with a hamstring injury so he is replaced by Michael Carrick today. 

          Daley Blind, who played as a left wing-back in midweek, was also substituted with a head injury, as United played an 11th match in seven weeks, so Ashley Young comes in for him. The boss has opted for Marouane Fellaini in central midfield alongside Carrick and Jesse Lingard starts in place of Henrikh Mkhitaryan. With Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both out due to suspension and Wayne Rooney injured, Marcus Rashford spearheads United's attack.

            Antonio Valencia makes his 200th Premier League appearance today and Anthony Martial is fit enough to start on the Reds' substitutes bench today.Former United players, Victor Valdes and Fabio both start for the hosts.
