Manchester United will reportedly seek to wrap up the double signing of Victor Lindelof and Nelson Semedo when Benfica chief Luis Filipe Vieira arrives in Manchester today.
The Red Devils were in the hunt for both players during the winter transfer window but the club did not have sufficient funds to push through the deals.
According to Portuguese source O Jogo, via Metro, the Mancunian giants have revived their pursuit of the Benfica pair with club officials due to meet up Filipe Vieira to finalise a transfer.
Lindelof currently has a £52m release
clause in his contract inked last summer while Semedo, on the other
hand, is likely to cost in upwards of £31m.
The combined fee is quoted at around £83m, but it would not come as a surprise if the eventual sum is lower than what has been reported.
A previous report from
Record has suggested that United have already wrapped up a £30m deal
for Lindelof, and Filipe Vieira may well be arriving to negotiate a fee
for Semedo instead.
Lindelof has featured primarily in the central defensive department for the Primeira Liga holders with Semedo being rewarded with a spot on the right side of the backline.
The former could be seen as a potential replacement for one of Chris Smalling or Phil Jones next term while the latter could provide ideal competition to Valencia, who at times struggles on the defensive side of things.
